Deal Summary

In April 2025, Ceniarth committed $500,000 in EcoEnterprises’ Fund IV, a follow-on from our $2m investment in Fund III. Continuing with the same investment strategy, the fund aims to enhance biodiversity, promote climate action, and create socio-economic opportunities for rural communities in Latin America by investing in SMEs through mezzanine and equity instruments.

EcoEnterprises Fund IV

Beneficiary Impact

EcoEnterprises has shown its ability to source high-impact business models that support biodiversity while improving the livelihoods of local communities, including indigenous populations. Portfolio companies are expected to operate in various sectors including agriculture, aquaculture, ecotourism, and alternative protein.

Intermediary Impact

The fund aims to address a clear funding gap by investing in SMEs in the “missing middle” that have limited access to long-term mezzanine capital. Beyond financing, the team provides significant added value to their portfolio companies through a hands-on approach, with board positions whenever possible. This value-add covers both the business and the impact side, which often go hand in hand for the portfolio companies. Fund IV is expected to have a TA facility which will further support companies and will promote gender-smart practises, supply chain certification and sustainability, climate solutions, as well as environmental and social impact management.

Capital Additionality

Our $500k investment will have modest additionality. However, we hope that our renewed commitment to the fund manager and our participation early on in their fundraising effort will enable Fund IV to reach its targeted $150m.
